Increasing the laser power will help double the speed but it also depends on the result that you want. i.e. the depth of engraving.

you mixed up on the labels there! You have a great point. I would like to add that the age of the spindle dictates its time to failure too; imagine a spindle that has served you for 8 years - it is a ticking time bomb and you should set aside some money for its replacement.
