5 axis controller means you have 5 axis of movement. however, it will use only 4 axis.

Then there is this feature that most woodworkers should clearly identify. You router should allow you to adjust the cutting height. This will make table routing more accurate and convenient.

The single axis board will serve you right. There isn't much difference between the two when it comes to durability.
