Newbie looking for a CNC machine and Software

Postby Iamalajones » Sun May 08, 2016 6:53 am

New to the CNC world but not completely new. I need some advice on the kind of CNC milling machine and software to purchase. Perhaps a “bench top 240V”. I would love a machine be it new or second-hand that I can use to make parts from aluminum. I also want some cam software. I know of software like solidcam and onecnc but was wondering if there are some more user-friendly software out there.

Before we talk about the software, let’s see how you have budgeted for the machine and software?

What type of machine do you want? Is it a gantry type router or a milling machine? They both differ so much in terms of cutting capabilities, price, and performance.

Nothing more than £6500. I am however hoping to spend something like £4000

For the software, forget about solidcam and onecnc and try Badog CAD CAM solution

Forgive my little knowledge on CNC. Do all Cam software work out feed rates, spindle speeds automatically?
